SS 1.4006 UNS S41000 Sheets plates coil details:
UNS sheets, plates and coils have a martensitic structure containing chromium content which gives higher corrosion resistance properties. The corrosion resistance property of SS 1.4006 Sheets plates coils can be further improved by tempering and hardening process. However, quenching operation can also be applied to it for hardening.

These sheets, plates, and coils are used in applications including heat resistance, high strength, and mildly corrosive environments. Because of the martensite structure, these are fabricated from special techniques and require final heat treatments. SS sheets, plates, and coils are less resistive than standard austenitic grades. The working temperatures are affected by the loss of strength at hoisted temperatures. This is due to over tempering and lower ductility at low temperatures.

While SS 1.4006 UNS S41000 Sheets plate’s coils can be machined in the annealed state, it has greater ability to work in heat treated and cold drawn condition. Most common welding techniques can be used. Pre heating is recommended to reduce the chance of cracking. However, post weld annealing is preferred to attain higher ductility.

These are annealed cooled rapidly with water to attain maximum corrosion resistance.
