Stainless steel sheets- it is thinner than 6 mm. These are ideal to use for building structures where durability is not required. Often it is corrugated or diamonded that provide additional strength to it without further increase in weight. Corrugation process is the creasing of the sheet at regular intervals. Diamonding is the addition of diamond ridges that add structural stability.
Stainless steel plate- SS plate has the thickness more than 6mm. In the application where durability is required these plates are used, however, the weight will increase. Mostly, it is used in the automobile sectors.

Stainless Steel Sheets Plates
The only difference between stainless steel sheets and plates is the thickness. Both used in different uses, depending on the application durability and requirements of end applications.
SS grade is the molybdenum austenitic stainless steel which offers good resistance to general corrosion. It is conventionally used grade and now it is divided into different grades that vary on the chemical composition. It offers higher creep and stress to rupture and elevated tensile strength. It has excellent corrosion resistance and strength properties. It also provides excellent formability and fabricability which typically found in the austenitic grades.
Stainless steel sheets/ plates are often utilized in the process streams that contain high levels of halides or chlorides. In addition to molybdenum, it improves pitting and general corrosion. These are also available in both low and higher version of carbon content makes it dual certified. The lower carbon composition with the addition of nitrogen enables to attain required mechanical properties.
Most Widely Used Austenitic Stainless Steel Plates, 2B / BA Finish Stainless Steel Plates, SS Chequered Plates Exporter, Stainless Steel Mirror Finish Sheet, SS Matt PVC Sheets, Jindal SS Sheets, Stainless Steel Sheets Distributors in India.

Also, it resists atmospheric corrosion as well as, in the moderate and dense environments. Moreover, it resists corrosion in the polluted seawater. Ss sheets and plates have excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion and even in the welded condition. These have excellent toughness and strength at the lower temperatures.
When it is annealed, its structure turns into non-magnetic in nature. It also becomes magnetic when it is processed from the cold working operations or welding operations. Importantly, it is weldable by all the standard shop fabrication operations. The hot working temperature of SS is between 927 deg c to 1204 deg c. For maximum properties it is also annealed up to 1038 deg c. However, these are readily cold worked. This operation will increase the strength and hardness of sheets and plates. Might be it will be subjected to work hardening during fabrication, thus best machining results can be achieved in the annealed condition.
Quality of stainless steel sheets/ plates is checked by performing different quality tests. These tests confirm the reliability of the products. The main tests include destructive and noon-destructive tests.
