SS 316 Sheets provide corrosion resistance in polluted marine atmospheres and has outstanding intergranular corrosion resistance in the as-welded condition. In the annealed state, SS 316L sheets are non-magnetic, but as a result of cold working or welding, they can become mildly magnetic and have superior toughness and strength at cryogenic temperatures. SS 316 Sheets also offer higher creep, stress-to-rupture and tensile strength at elevated temperature. 316L SS can be used in harsher atmospheres, where pitting and crevice corrosion can occur through chloride exposure or solvents used in processing.
