SS 316 Sheets offer corrosion resistance in polluted marine atmospheres and has greater intergranular corrosion resistance in the as-welded condition. In the annealed state, SS 316L sheets are non-magnetic, but as a result of cold working or welding, they can become mildly magnetic and have outstanding toughness and strength at very low temperatures. SS 316 Sheets also provide higher creep, stress-to-rupture and tensile strength at elevated temperature. 316L SS can be used in harsher environment, where pitting and crevice corrosion can occur by exposure to chloride or by solvents used in processing.
